Specifically for railway applications, Infratron offers a combined EMC and environmental seal. It consists of two parallel sealing lips made of soft EPDM foam, one of which is covered with a highly conductive textile. These are mounted on a metal-reinforced base structure made of solid EPDM, designed to snap onto metal edges of 1-3 mm thickness.
There are two variants available: vertical and 90° angled. Typically, the seal is installed with the environmental seal on the outside to protect the EMC seal from corrosion.
The minimum bending radius is 30 mm. For angles and joints, factory vulcanization is available, allowing for fully closed frames and rings, even in three-dimensional sealing constructions.
These seals have been used in German ICE trains for years and are now also being employed in Chinese railway projects.
